Domestic music of the 18th Century
The programme gives a vivid picture of musical life in the historic
houses of Britain. It includes favourite operatic arias in contemporary
domestic arrangements, favourite operatic numbers arranged for
amateur chamber music, favourites by Handel, songs from the shows
and traditional songs and dances. Apart from sonatas by Corelli
and Scarlatti all the music comes from 18th century editions.
