The National Trust used the phrase 'Bringing History alive through
Music' to describe Janiculum's work. The group specialises in
events and recordings that put the music in a particular background
and finding strictly relevant music. This entails reviving 18th
century manuscripts and editions since so much of what was popular
in the 18th century is now forgotten.
All instruments used are 18th century originals or modern copies.
Janiculum's festival appearances including Ayrshire, Brighton, Cambridge, Finchcocks, Gower, Norwich, Sevenoaks, Little Venice (Mozart's Models 2006), Palermo & Guildford at Hatchlands Park (Mozart's Models 2006). Concerts in association with art exhibitions include Kenwood, The British Museum & the Royal Academy of Arts. Concert societies include Forde Abbey & Luton Music Club. Janiculum has also given a major fund-raising concert for The National Art Collections Fund. Recently the group has been giving concerts for the British Museum in The Enlightenment Galleries. Concerts for historical conferences include Exile & the English Revolution in 2006 & the Jacobite Studies conference in July 2007.

Janiculum's 'interesting and enterprising' programmes have been referred to as 'an insight into the music that appealed to contemporary audiences'. Of Handel's Rivals one critic wrote of the 'extremely interesting repertoire; we hear about Handel's trials and tribulations at the hands of other imported composers, but rarely do we get to hear any of their music'.
Janiculum's Handel's Rivals CD was chosen as Best of the Year in 2002 by International Record Review.
